Make + Paint Monthly Classes

Each month students learn about and are inspired by a different artist or art movement to create artworks in a variety of medium. 

Make and Paint students will explore a variety of painting methods as well as sculpture, printmaking, and more. Lessons will be directly tied to practicing the Elements of Art, Principles of Design, as well as exploring Art History and Contemporary Art by focusing on a specific artist or art movement each month.  

$70 per Month includes:

+Four 1-hour class sessions

+All materials included

+Student artwork displayed in our monthly First Friday Open House

**Adult helper must stay for artists aged 3 and under**

+ Tots (2-3 years): Fridays 10:00-11:00am**

+Pre-K and Kinder (4-6 years): Mondays 5:00-6:00pm OR Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm

+ Grades 1-4: Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm, Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm; Thursdays 4-5pm

+ Grades 5+: Tuesdays 6:30-7:30pm

+Homeschool Students: Tuesdays

2:00-3:00pm; Wednesdays 2:00-3:00pm

+Online registration for Camps, Classes, and Workshops closes 24 hours before the event begins

January 2020

Artist to Inspire:  Vincent van Gogh

Focus: Place + Perspective

Makers will review the principles of one-point perspective while create artworks inspired by van Gogh's paintings of interior rooms and outdoor city scenes.

February 2020

Artist to Inspire: Aaron Douglas 

Focus: Color, Value, Shape, and Storytelling

Makers will create paper collages and paintings studying the work of American Painter Aaron Douglas while learning about color relationships, creating values, and how to illustrate a story using silhouettes and simple shapes. 

Fun fact: Douglas' paintings were the inspiration for the animation during Tiana's "Almost There" song sequence in Disney's The Princess and the Frog.

March 2020

Artist to Inspire: Memphis Milano

Focus: 80s Style, Form, and Pattern

Makers will learn about Memphis Style while creating patterned paper sculptures, paintings, and more! This iconic style defined decor trends in the 80s and early 90s.
